An extremely desirable top
quality English instrument with proportions that are slightly
smaller in comparison to the majority of basses built by Fendt.
In the article on Fendt basses by Martin and Lawrence (Strad Feb
97) these smaller instruments "Of which he made several"
are described as his "Chamber bass model." There is nothing
"chamber" about the sound coming from this instrument
- it is a real cannon.
This is the typical flat back with angle - good English
- violin form instrument that everyone wants.
The visually stunning back of this instrument has
been carved from maple that has been cut close to the root of the
tree base. The curl figure in the wood has a feature that ascends
the length of the back and looks just like a long flame that has
been blown out of a dragons mouth. Highlighted to the full by a
simile of the original "Fendt Red" varnish - a beautiful
deep plum red varnish that lies over a gorgeous yellow ground. A
professional instrument for a professional player.
