Subject: Road-test
Dear Tony,
In the six months that I have had my carbon fibre flight
case I have done well over ten long-haul flights plus numerous
internal connections. Having seen my case slid down chutes,
banged and crashed and put at the bottom of huge piles of
suitcases I am amazed that it has only suffered some minor
scratches and grazes. More importantly I am happy to report
that even after such atrocious treatment from seemingly every
baggage handler in the world - my bass has not sustained
any damage whatsoever.
When I first saw the case I was sceptical that such a lightweight
creation could protect my instrument as well as my old "ten-tonne" Kolstein
Uniair - but now having what I call - fully road-tested the
case I am well pleased that I did make the investment for
it has made the hugely stressful business of flying with
a precious instrument so much easier.
Bravo, bravo, bravo.

Thanks so much
Dear Tony,
Just picked up my Carbon Fibre trunk. Literally picked it
up. I can't believe how light it is. My bass fits in securely,
and I can lift the whole thing, bass and case into a car
with no problem. The other musicians are singing my (and
your) praises.

Subject: I'm back
home from the tour
Dear Tony,
I'm back in the U.S. Since I picked up the case from you,
it has flown Gatwick-Toulouse and then Toulouse-Gatwick,
Gatwick-Heathrow bus, and then Heathrow-Seattle. This weekend
it will go to Alaska and back.
Re The bass and case: Most importantly the bass is fine.
Still in tune as well. The case with my bass and Moradian
soft cover comes in at 31kg. (It was weighed in Toulouse
and at Heathrow). That is about 68lbs, which is less than
my Gage case weighed WITHOUT a bass in it. No extra fees
is wonderful.
No issues about it being able to fly is better. However,
the BEST part is just the ease which we can travel with that
thing. No strain, no stress, no cut fingers or scratched
arms or banged up toes or sore backs. Pop it in the van,
pop it back out. I LOVE IT. You really have changed travel
for bass players, especially for those who are committed
to using a real bass at every gig.
Thanks again.

Subject: Flight Case
Dear Tony,
The weight of the case is just so impressive. At the airport
it was all very easy - in fact there were no questions asked
after the usual "How much does that weigh?"

Hi Tony,
It was nice to speak to you, and I appreciate the time you
gave me on the phone! Super, I have places the order and
I look forward to everything!

Subject: Case
Hello Tony,
I hope this finds you well. I'm using the flight case now
more than a year, around 25 flights (twice to the US, Dubai,
a dozen times to Berlin, Vienna and so on). I really love
the case, it does great services for me.
Below you can see a picture from the last June US tour, the
case on its maiden voyage. Now it looks a little more used
(hard to imagine how many ways of cruel treatment they know
at airports) and it has lost two of the leather handles (the
big ones).
Would it be possible that you send me over two new leather
handles (mounting included) and a closing toggle as well?
That would be great to prepare the case for some more trips
(in Autumn I start with Japan).
Best wishes,
Christian W. - Switzerland. June 2007.
Reply from The Contrabass Shoppe to Christian W.:
Dear Christian,
I spoke with Gary, our case maker, and he said that he's
sending you up a new toggle, 2 upgraded leather handles and
two upgraded bump stops with all accessory fittings, for
the bottom.
Yours sincerely,
AMH: The Contrabass Shoppe Ltd. June 2007.
